Omaha Hi Lo: General Overview

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but well-loved poker games. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant variation, has increased in acceptance so amazingly.
Omaha hi lo begins like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to each player. A round of wagering follows in which players can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. Another round of wagering happens. Once all the players have in turn called or dropped out, a further card is flipped on the turn. an additional round of betting follows at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will need to put together the strongest high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a few players get confused. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, where the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi lo the player must utilize exactly 3 cards from the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, no less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that can be put together, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Considering that straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and below. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the high hand takes the complete pot.
