Omaha Hi Low: Basic Overview

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly seen as one of the most complex but popular poker games. It’s a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once irrelevant game, has increased in popularity so quickly.
Omaha Hi-Lo starts like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to every player. A round of wagering follows where gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. One more round of wagering happens. Once all the players have either called or folded, a further card is flipped on the turn. an additional round of betting follows at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will have to make the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where some entrants often get baffled. Unlike Holdem, where the board can be everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player must utilize precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, no less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot may be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is exactly how it sounds. It’s the best hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the same notion in almost every poker game.
The lower hand is more complex, but certainly opens up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. A low hand is the weakest hand that could be put together, with the lowest being A-2-3-4-5. Seeing as straights and flushes don’t count, A-2-3-4-5 is the worst possible hand. The low hand is any 5 card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there’s no low hand presented, the high hand takes the whole pot.
While it seems complex at the outset, after a couple of hands you will be agile enough to get the fundamental nuances of the game simply enough. Since you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an exciting range of wagering options and owing to the fact that you have numerous players battling for the high, and many trying for the low.
