Omaha Hi-Low: General Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but well-loved poker games. It is a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for action from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once obscure variation, has expanded in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha 8 or better begins like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are dealt to every player. A round of betting follows in which gamblers can wager, check, or drop out. 3 cards are dealt out, this is called the flop. A further sequence of wagering ensues. Once all the gamblers have in turn called or folded, another card is revealed on the turn. an additional sequence of wagering follows and then the river card is flipped. The gamblers will have to make the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is the point where some players can get confused. Unlike Holdem, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player has to utilize exactly three cards on the board, and exactly 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Unlike regular Omaha, there are 2 ways a pot could be won: the "higher hand" or the "lower hand."
A high hand is just what it sounds like. It’s the best hand out of everyone’s, whether that is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the very same concept in nearly all poker games.
A low hand is more complex, but certainly free’s up the play. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. A low hand is the weakest hand that might be made, with the lowest value being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the smallest value hand possible. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and smaller. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no lower hand presented, the higher hand takes the whole pot.
It may seem difficult at the outset, following a few rounds you will be agile enough to get the base subtleties of play easily enough. Seeing as you have individuals betting for the low and betting for the high, and since such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better provides an overwhelming collection of wagering possibilities and because you have several individuals shooting for the high, as well as a few trying for the low. If you love a game with all kinds of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha 8 or better.
